2021 INSURANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT RESEARCH COMPETITION

The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe is pleased to invite entries for the 2021 Insurance and Risk Management Research Competition. The competition is open to all insurance practitioners at all levels in the industry, University students at both undergraduate and post graduate levels, and all members of the public with an interest in The field of insurance and risk management.

The competition is designed to enrich the knowledge of insurance and risk management by encouraging research in various topics and to keep abreast of world trends in this field.

1. Research Topics

1.1 The feasibility of insuring motor vehicles on a replacement value basis in Zimbabwe.

1.2 The role of block chain in enhancing underwriting efficiency in the Zimbabwe’s short term insurance industry.

1. 3 The role of Cyber Insurance in mitigating cyber security risks in the financial services sector

2. Terms of Reference

2.1 The Researcher is required to submit a brief resume.

2.2 The research shall be presented in a written paper of a minimum of 2 500 but not more Than 5000 words.

The body should be presented in the following order:

1.) Abstract of 150 to 250 words.

ii.) Main text including tables and figures of 2500 to 5 000 words.

iII.) Appendices.

iv.) References.

2.3 All referencing must follow The Harvard Style.

2.4 Research should not have been lodged with or published in any other journal.

2.5 Tho Manuscript must be typed using the Times Now Roman with font size 12 and spacing of 1.5.

3. Schedules and Deadlines

3.1 The 2021 research competition shall be launched on 1 May 2021.

3.2 The research proposal shall be submitted by 31 May 2021.

3.3 The research shall be submitted by 30 October 2021.

3.4 The adjudication of the Research should be completed by 30 November 2021.

4. Schedules and Deadlines

Prizes will be awarded to winning researchers.

5. Entry Details

A written research proposal on one of the proposed research areas in 1. above should be submitted electronically to ICZ between the 1st to 31st May 2021. Assistance will be rendered to researchers requiring support in preparing the research proposals.
