Vacancy :  Chief Finance Officer 

The Chief Finance Officer  is responsible for  the financial  well-being of the organization . The Chief Finance  Officer is also responsible for designing and implementing financial strategies & policies for the institution that maximize shareholder return 

CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop  and implement  an effective  financial management strategy for the business 
  • Prepare daily , weekly, monthly , quarterly  and annual financial /performance  reports for internal management use , external  stakeholders  such as the board  , RBZ , shareholders and other stakeholders and monitors  profitability 
  • Monitor  financial performance by measuring and analysing results : initiating corrective actions , minimizing the impact of variances
  • In consultation with the Managing Director , Board and the  Shareholders  , secure adequate capital funding for the business 
  • Develops  and maintains  a sound human resources plan for the department 
  • Accomplish  finace human  resource  strategies  by determining accountabilities , communicating and enforcing  values , policies  and procedures : implementing  recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counselling, disciplinary  and communication  program, planning, monitoring, appraising  and reviewing  compensation strategies 
  • Directs accounting  department activities : provides  leadership , training and supervision within the department  : provides  a high level  of customer  relations and service and ensures compliance with the institutions policies and procedures 
  • Lead the department in attaining departments financial goals 
  • Conducts quarterly  performance reviews  of subordinates and manages overall  performance  of the same
  • Manages  cash-flow  and monitors  and reviews the institution`s  cash-flow position with the view of ensuring the institution  maintains positive cash flows 
  • Monitors credit  and ensures credit is maintained within the defined limits 
  • Develops and  maintains adequate and effective financial  control systems 
  • Develops and maintains  a reliable management and cost reporting system  for the institution to ensure  accurate and timeous reporting 
  • Develops  and maintains system that facilitate benchmarking of the institution`s performance against similar operations in the industry with a view of reducing costs to the lower quarter of the industry cost curve 
  • Provide  product  financial evaluation 
  • Oversee  all financial  operations  and direct  corporate  financial  planning structure 
  • Conduct annual  business  planning  and forecasting , monthly  , weekly budgets 
  • Monitor budget  performance
  • Control and monitor expenditure 
  • Provide financial planning  and related ongoing  advice  for the managing director  management  
  • Formulates financial   targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy  determined by the Board 
  • Source for new capital funding 
  • Provide accurate management  information on time  for  decision  making 
  • Evaluate  and advise  on more effective allocation and utilization of resources 
  • Establish  an optimum capital  structure for the company and debt equity rates 
  • Constantly revise the balance sheet to maximise value  for the  institution e.g debt to equity swaps

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum B.Com  Accounting , Business Studies or Economics Degree or equivalent  
  • Must be a qualified chartered accountant or chartered financial analyst 
  • A holder of  a post  graduate degree such as MBA , MSc , Economics or equivalent will have an added advantage 
  • 10 years  senior  management experience  with 5 years  in a similar role 
  • Must have  excellent technical  and practical kills in investments and financial management 
  • Must have  knowledge of relevant accounting packages 
  • Must be able to develop , evaluate  and interpret financial statements 
  • Must be to formulate and implement effective cost management strategies 
  • Exceptional stakeholder relations management skills
