INTERNAL AUDIT DEPARTMENT

Vacancy : SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR – ACADEMIC SYSTEMS, INNOVATION AND POLICY (1 POST)

Qualifications and Experience:

The position requires an individual with:-

  • A Bachelor of Accountancy Degree
  • A Relevant Masters Degree or Certification by Institute of Internal Auditors or other relevant Institutes or Associations.
  • At least eight years of experience either in auditing or auditing and accounting.
Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate must be able to continuously improve University academic systems by:

  • Documenting SOPs in all the departments of a Faculty for analysis against Faculty’s own documented SOPs to ensure that all processes are included in the SOPs;
  • Evaluating internal control procedures in Faculty systems;
  • Carrying out compliance audits in all Faculties;
  • Ensure proper risk mitigation for University IP Property by:
  • Evaluating accounting procedures for IP development costs and the resultant intangible assets:
  • Carrying out research on current trends in IP Policy and risk management to recommend institutional conformity with best practise.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of sound corporate governance systems and ethical values through:
  • Carrying out periodic reviews of audit related policies: organizing and facilitating workshops to raise awareness of key University policies and ensuring compliance with such policies.
  • Coordinate with University’s Risk Management Units to ensure that Internal Audit work programs are risk driven.
  • Generate audit reports for completed assignments.
  • Transfer skills by:
  • Training junior staff, guiding them in formulating programs for audit assignments, reviewing their working papers and guiding them in generating draft audit reports,
  • Carry out any other routine audit assignments as assigned by the Chief Internal Auditor. Stand in for the Chief Internal Auditor in his absence.
