Credit Controller
Audit Assistant

Job : Credit Controller (Grade 12)

Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Accountant Revenue, the main objective of this position is to promote effective and efficient debt management in Council

Duties and Responsibilities

Reconciliation of debtors balances up to General Ledger and negotiating and monitoring payment plans
Maintaining regular contact with debtors and ensure timely payments
Adhering o debtors days set by Council and maintenance of accurate records of all overdue accounts
Identifying changes in socio economic environment and propose action to avert indebtedness
Handling queries from clients
Analysing debt and recommending appropriate action to management
Recommending issuance of rates clearance certificates
To prepare and submit weekly, monthly, yearly and demand reports
To effectively supervise subordinates
Effective Records Management

Qualifications and Experience

Possession of a Business Degree with a Credit Management Component
Five O Level subject passes with English Language and Mathematics/Accounts
At least 3 years of working experience in credit control
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing debt collection
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sound knowledge of computerised accounting is an added advantage
Knowledge of Pronum is an added advantage

Job : Audit Assistant (Grade 10)

The incumbent will be reporting to the internal audit

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of a relevant Diploma from a recognised institution
Possession of a professional qualification e.g ACCA, CIMA will be an added advantage
Minimum of 3 years working experience in a local authority
High level computer literacy skills
Strong analytical skills for analysing, interpreting and evaluating data
Sound verbal communication and report writing skills

Key Performance Areas

Assisting the Internal Auditor in carrying out assignments on the annual internal audit plan in accordance with accepted auditing standards
Assisting the internal auditor in monitoring and preparing year end stock take
Translating the organisation annual audit plans into action within defined time parameters , specific audit interventions and executing internal audit tasks with minimal supervision
Contributing to the internal audit function by identifying risks associated with business objectives and evaluating the controls in place to mitigate such risks with a view of improving risks management processes
Evaluating compliance of staff on policies, procedures and processes to ensure that appropriate level of compliance are maintained
Assisting the internal auditor in reporting audit findings and making recommendations improving operations and reducing costs
Records management – safe keeping of audit working papers
Providing the Audit section with secretarial services
